It’s just our third day, but we’re getting acclimated. Slowly, we’ve extended our walks in length and scope. This morning Pa and I headed out to the main street,
the one each of the little neighborhoods feed into, like tributaries into a great river. We’d been out there before but just to have coffee. This morning we took in the sights.
Kathmandu awakens slowly. At the early hour, traffic is light,
and businesses that have a defined space have yet to open.
Yet business has started.
There are no shelves, just tarps laid out,
or nothing at all.
Up and down the street, fruits and vegetables are being sold.
These mini-markets are primary providers of food for the day.
After a time, we stop for coffee at a place we visited yesterday.
They have a great cappuccino.
A little pricey by neighborhood standards,
but well worth it.
Relaxing in an easy chair, we take it all in.
Exiting, we pass a gentleman who’s doing the same.
In the time during which we sipped and watched, other businesses have opened their doors.
And the day is on.
Ten minutes or so, and we arrive at our landmark,
turning left for Sigut’s place.
Along the way there’s another fellow,
taking it all in.
Cappuccino looks good. 👍
