The Streets of Kathmandu

Pa and I were invited to the Jacaranda for mid-afternoon momos and beer. Marco, our friend from Germany would be there. His friend Sebastian, just arrived from Germany for a ten day trek, would be there as well. Sugat too, and others for sure. You never know who will be at the Jacaranda.

It being a sunny afternoon, Pa and I chose to walk the 4km, leaving Swagat Homestay with more than enough time to arrive by two, or so we thought.

But once you’re on the streets of Kathmandu, time takes a holiday and the feast begins.

I don’t know how anyone could describe Kathmandu without images. Take the words required for a single fruit stand and two passersby,

multiply them by a thousand, and many more, and perhaps you would have a good start.

So we left at one, 50 minutes sufficient time according to Google maps, and the journey to Jacaranda began.

And so we arrived at the Jacaranda, an hour later than planned,

momos and cold beer just around the corner.
