Amsterdam

I didn’t plan this trip, so I was pleased to discover upon arrival that we’d have two days in Amsterdam before departure.

It’s as close to Kyoto as I’ve found.  A city where introverts can be introverts.  Quiet, peaceful. I’ve yet to hear a honk, a siren, or a raised voice.

It’s a city of canals,

bicycles,

and culture, of course.

Light and color.

The band.

The one of a kind.

In the afternoon, we visited the Van Gogh, keeper of my mother’s favorite painting,

and stayed the night at the Nadia

with it’s workout facility

a room with a view,

and a canal across the way.

I have a lingering cold so I’m distancing.

I don’t mind the cold, and its altered state of consciousness.

We checked out at 11:00. Jen, Kathy, and Roger bussed.  I walked.

Central Station.

One of many.

The faithful.

The outliers.

More bikes.

The Destiny.

Median age 65, give or take.

We cast off tomorrow about noon. Absent rain, I’ll bike ride in the morning.
